Garnacho sends message as Lisandro Martinez breaks silence on injury

Lisandro Martinez breaks his silence after the season ending injury sustained on Thursday night, this prompting support from his teammates.

Martinez was carried off the field during the 2-2 draw with Sevilla after fracturing his fifth metatarsal.

The injury was later confirmed to be a season ender for the Argentine centre-back. Today Martinez broke his silence on the situation, to let fans know he will be back.

In a social media post, Martinez said, “Not the way I imagined what’s been a very special season would end.

“But sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger and we learn from them.

“I know that I’ll be back soon to go for more. In the meantime, I’ll continue to support my team-mates to achieve our objectives.”

Despite this disappointment, the Butcher has remained optimistic and is grateful for all the supporting messages he has received.

“The messages & support I’ve received has been amazing, they’re giving me strength and encouragement. Thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart.”

Martinez receives supportive messages

Martinez has received support from lots of his teammates, peers and friends which is testament to his character.

Firstly his United and Argentina teammate Alejandro Garnacho, who is also on the injured list, said “You’ll come back stronger bro!”.

Meanwhile Martinez’s former team Ajax, where he played for much of his career, sent their support, saying, “Speedy recovery, Licha!”.

Marcos Acuna, one of the two Sevilla players who carried Martinez off the pitch on Thursday also sent his support. He said, “You’re gonna come back much stronger bro”.
