Alejandro Garnacho sends powerful message to Cristiano Ronaldo after Al Nassr win Arab Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo is celebrating winning his first trophy in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo controversially forced an exit from Manchester United in late 2022, and had to watch on as the Red Devils won the Carabao Cup without him several weeks later.

His Al Nassr side missed out on the league title too, but have begun to make up for that, by emerging victorious in the Arab Cup competition this weekend.

Ronaldo scored once in regular time and the winner in extra-time to help Al Nassr come from behind to beat Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s Al Hilal in the final.

Cristiano Ronaldo wins again

Cristiano Ronaldo is a born winner, Manchester United have seen this first hand. His move to Saudi Arabia was a controversial one, but one which looks a bit better a few months on, with many big names from around the world following him to the country.

He now counts Sadio Mane among his teammates, and the duo helped lead Al Nassr to win the Arab Cup trophy, which has a striking resemblance to the World Cup.

It’s a minor achievement in comparison to the big ones Ronaldo has won during his career, but his first in Saudi Arabia will be special to him, and indeed, to win silverware at the age of 38, having gone too long by his standards without lifting a trophy.

He sent a message lauding the ‘important’ achievement and said he was ‘extremely proud’ to win it.

Reaction to Cristiano Ronaldo win

Cristiano Ronaldo is a legend who is admired by his former teammates and a handful of Manchester United teammates ‘liked’ his Instagram post.

These included Nani, Antony, Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly, and Federico Macheda, among many others. And then there was a message from Manchester United wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho, 19, wrote a simple message to Ronaldo, which read, ‘inspiration’ along with a trophy emoji.

Many are hoping Garnacho can have a Ronaldo-style breakthrough at Manchester United this coming season, and seeing his idol win silverware will further spur the youngster on.

Garnacho played alongside Ronaldo last season and scored his first ever goal from an assist from the Portugal superstar.

Alex Telles wins too

Cristiano Ronaldo was joined in lifting silverware by his new recruit from Manchester United, defender Alex Telles.

Telles played his role as a starter for Al Nassr in their Arab Cup win, having left Manchester United last month.

It is his second trophy recently, with Telles winning the Europa League while on loan at Sevilla at the end of last season.
