Pedulla update on top target to Manchester United and says star rejected Liverpool, it may have been decisive

Manchester United remain in pole position to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, despite alleged interest from Liverpool.

Don’t panic. Manchester United are still the favourites to sign Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, as it currently stands.

The situation is this: After being rejected by Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia for Chelsea, Liverpool have turned attentions back towards Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

Fabrizio Romano reports their attention is just at an enquiry stage: “ust contact to be informed on conditions of the deal. #LFC No decision made yet, Liverpool are still exploring market to pick new favorite DM.”

Sofyan Amrabat favours Manchester United

Earlier today in an interview with Labaro Viola, Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla confirmed Manchester United are Amrabat’s clear top choice.

He said: “Now I expect there to be an acceleration and United’s offer to arrive. They spent a lot of money on Onana, on Hojlund, Maguire hasn’t left yet, they had to make some outings and they haven’t yet. Surely Amrabat belongs to these [in the] last fortnight.

“What I can tell you is that up to now Amrabat has refused any offer that has arrived: Liverpool, Bayern and Juventus, even if the Bianconeri have never formalized the offer.”

Responding to the latest reports on Liverpool interest in Amrabat, Pedulla re-affirmed his view, via Twitter.

He said: “#Klopp has always liked #Amrabat, but he is in Florence and not on his way to #Liverpool. There is no official offer from the Reds yet. The midfielder is always waiting for #ManchesterUnited who have asked him to be patient,”

Liverpool may have already moved on

Amrabat’s rejection may have been decisive, because it appears Liverpool have already moved on to another defensive midfield target.

Romano reports Liverpool have submitted a £6 million bid to sign Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart, and the deal is expected to go through. Chelsea are not involved in this one.

United must show more urgency

Manchester United have been far too laid back over the Amrabat pursuit, and run the risk of another team coming in to sign him.

The longer the transfer window drags on without United clinching the deal, the greater the risk of another team hijacking the deal. It very nearly could have happened with Liverpool here.

It’s not 100 per cent yet either, but United need to take this as a warning sign, and step it up. The narrow win over Wolves highlighted that Casemiro needs more help in central midfield, and Amrabat would be a very shrewd solution.
