Report: Ten Hag target frustrated as Manchester United move now delayed, £29m deal in place

Manchester United want Sofyan Amrabat but the Fiorentina midfielder is thought to be frustrated at the lack of a deal.

United have secured one midfielder this summer with Mason Mount arriving from Chelsea.

Monday’s display against Wolverhampton Wanderers was a little concerning though as United’s midfield was cut through a little easily.

Erik ten Hag seems to be keen on adding one more midfield option, one with a little more defensive presence than Mount and Bruno Fernandes.

Fred’s departure and the potential exit of Donny van de Beek should help but one United target is now getting a little frustrated.

Sofyan Amrabat annoyed as Manchester United wait goes on

90Min now report that both Fiorentina and Sofyan Amrabat are growing frustrated with United’s inability fo finalise a deal for the Morocco star.

It’s stated that United do have a provisional deal in place for Amrabat with a £29million fee agreed with Fiorentina.

Personal terms agreed with Amrabat but United can’t finalise the deal until other midfielders move out of Old Trafford.

Van de Beek would seemingly be the man to activate this deal with Spanish side Real Sociedad chasing his signature.

That deal hasn’t been done yet though and Amrabat is growing frustrated having already rejected Atletico Madrid and Juventus this summer in order to focus on United.

The transfer window is drawing towards its close and Amrabat won’t want to completely miss out on a move away from Fiorentina, so United will need to get this deal moving quickly or risk missing out – especially with Liverpool sniffing around for a new holding midfielder.

Let’s hope that Amrabat’s relationship with his former Utrecht boss Erik ten Hag means he doesn’t have his head turned by other clubs.

What’s interesting though is that United are being linked with other midfielders whilst the Amrabat deal seemingly stalls.

The Guardian claim that United have made an approach to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana.

Foot Mercato add that Ten Hag has reactivated his pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch having worked together at Ajax.

Onana and Gravenberch are more in the box-to-box midfielder mould though and their size means they would make sense for United if Scott McTominay moves on.

Amrabat is the only real defensive midfield of the three and we would imagine that he is still top of United’s wish list.
