Sky Sports reporter claims Fulham now likely to make move for Manchester United player this month

Manchester United midfielder Fred is back on the wish list with Premier League rivals Fulham after previously backing away.

Goalkeepers have dominated the rumour mill for Manchester United so far this summer but it could now be midfielders.

Mason Mount has arrived but we could now see a few departures in the coming weeks.

Donny van de Beek appears to edging towards a move to Real Sociedad and Scott McTominay has been the source of a bid From West Ham United.

United may consider offers for those two players but we could also see Fred leave Old Trafford in a real midfield overhaul.

Fulham back in for Manchester United midfielder Fred

The Telegraph reported in June that Fulham were interested in snapping up Fred.

The 30-year-old was described as being interested in a move there, potentially reuniting with fellow Brazilian and ex-United midfielder Andreas Pereira.

Questions marks over Marco Silva’s future and a potential move to Saudi Arabia meant the rumours faded away for a while.

Now though, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has now claimed that ‘it looks like’ Fulham are coming back in with a new move for Fred.

Sheth claims that Fulham didn’t like the finances associated with a deal earlier in the window but are now returning to the pursuit.

Sheth also believes that Fred didn’t fancy a move to Fenerbahce; United will be hoping that he feels a little more positive about joining Fulham.

“Fred is a player they are happy to see leave the club,” said Sheth. “He’s into the final year of his contract, Galatasaray were in talks with Manchester United, they couldn’t agree a deal and I don’t think Fred was too enamoured with the personal terms that were on offer.”

“Fulham; they had an interest in Fred at the start of this transfer window, but not at the prices being quoted. At the time, I said it was just one to watch the later into the window we go. Marco Silva is a big fan of Fred and it looks like they might go back in for the Manchester United midfielder,” he added.

Fred simply has to leave United

Fred has been a real enigma; Good Fred is a real menace in midfield and is all-action, breaking up play and getting United on the attack.

We just don’t see that side of Fred often enough and he just doesn’t provide the consistency and reliability that Erik ten Hag needs.

United are chasing other midfield additions in Sofyan Amrabat and possibly even Amadou Onana, so Ten Hag already seems to be making plans for beyond Fred.

Add in the potential of currently-injured youngster Kobbie Mainoo and it’s hard to see how Fred can have a future at United.

Moving on is the best thing for Fred’s career and whether it’s Fulham, Galatasaray or a move to Saudi Arabia, it’s simply time to go.
