Striker scores 2 and assists 1 as Manchester United u21s thrash non-league side 4-0

Manchester United under-21s have beaten Chester in a friendly match with an impressive performance.

A sold out crowd of more than 2,600 fans saw a Manchester United XI beat non-league Chester FC on Monday night (7/8).

The friendly match provided an opportunity for the club’s talented youngsters to get more game time, and featured some players who featured for the first team in Dublin against Athletic Bilbao just over 24 hours earlier.

Hannibal Mejbri was among the starters. He had helped change the game against Bilbao with Aitor Paredes given a red card for hauling him down on the edge of the box.

Manchester United XI beat Chester 4-0

Manchester United’s youngsters scored two goals in each half to rack up a one-sided 4-0 victory.

Shola Shoretire netted the opening goal before Charlie McNeill doubled the Red Devils’ lead.

Charlie McNeill scored again in the second half before turning provider for Noam Emeran to add United’s fourth.

Emeran was among the players to come off the bench for the first team against Bilbao and this was his second goal of pre-season, following a strike in United’s 2-0 win against Leeds in Oslo.

This was a particularly useful workout for Charlie McNeill, involved directly in three of the four goals. He had only featured for the first team in the defeat to Wrexham.

Starting XI: Dermot Mee; Marc Jurado, Teden Mengi, Willy Kambwala, Sonny Aljofree; Toby Collyer, Shola Shoretire, Hannibal Mejbri, Mateo Mejia, Noam Emeran, Charlie McNeill

Substitutes: James Nolan, Ondrej Mastny, Habeeb Ogunneye, Sam Mather, Ethan Wiliams, Maxi Oyedele.

Under-21 and under-18s fixtures set

The fixtures for Manchester United’s under-21s and under-18s sides have now been set for the season. While they are subject to change, we know when the opening matches will be.

The under-21s are away at Crystal Palace at 1pm on Monday August 14, while the under-18s are away at Middlesbrough at 12.30pm on Saturday August 12.
