Report: Manchester United given chance to sign Eredivisie title-winning winger on free transfer

Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign free agent winger Oussama Idrissi amid links to Anwar El Ghazi.

We should probably get used to seeing free agent wingers being inked with United.

Agents everywhere will be all to aware that United are having problems out wide and could be tempted into signing a new face.

Mason Greenwood has been moved on to Getafe, Antony has been put on a break from the club and Jadon Sancho’s future remains up in the air.

Add in Amad Diallo’s injury and United aren’t exactly blessed with options on the flanks.

The transfer window is now closed, so United would be limited to free agents if Erik ten Hag does want another wide man.

Manchester United offered chance to sign Oussama Idrissi

The Daily Mail reported late on Monday night that United were considering signing free agent wide man Anwar El Ghazi.

That was played down by The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, who suggested that United had been offered El Ghazi but weren’t taking it any further.

Well, now we have another name in the mix as 90Min claim that United are weighing up a move for Oussama Idrissi.

The 27-year-old has been offered to United and has interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar – just like El Ghazi.

Ten Hag worked with Idrissi at Ajax, so will know the free agent well, but a deal feels unlikely if United are saying no to El Ghazi.

Who is United-linked Idrissi?

Idrissi hails from the Netherlands but switched his international allegiance to play for Morocco, notching nine caps for the World Cup semi-finalists.

After featuring in the ranks at NAC Breda and Feyenoord, Idrissi broke through with Groningen.

13 goals in 64 games saw Idrissi earn real interest and he secured a 2018 move to AZ Alkmaar, where he continued to shine.

Idrissi racked up 37 goals in 98 games for AZ, earning himself a €12million (£10.3million) switch to Spanish side Sevilla in 2020.

The move really didn’t work out, playing just 17 times for Sevilla and struggling out on loan with Ajax and Cadiz.

The left-sided wide man played 14 times under Ten Hag at Ajax, failing to register a single goal or assist.

Idrissi spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, scoring seven goals in all competitions to help them win the Eredvisie title.

Now 27, Idrissi is a free agent after Sevilla ripped up the final two years of his contract before the transfer deadline.

It’s hard to imagine United moving for Idrissi, especially given his lack of impact under Ten Hag at Ajax, with United surely trusting other options currently in the squad.
