Unhappy Man United fans all saying same thing over ‘done and dusted’ star after Burnley win

Furious Manchester United fans have slammed Scotland midfielder Scott McTominay after his “terrible” performance against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

McTominay was praised during the international break in September after his stunning run of form for Scotland in his country’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

But the 26-year-old Scotland international has fallen down the pecking order under United manager Erik ten Hag and has been battling for minutes at Old Trafford.

McTominay was linked with an exit from Old Trafford in the summer, with the United star attracting interest from the likes of Fulham, Bayern Munich and West Ham.

United even rejected a £30m bid for McTominay from West Ham, with the Scottish midfielder believed to be an important squad player for Ten Hag.

United fans unhappy with McTominay

McTominay was brutally criticised from fans after viral footage showed him casually tracking back in United’s 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The United midfielder was started for the Premier League clash against Burnley, but fans were quick to slam the decision to sell Fred and keep McTominay at the club.

“McTominay is done and dusted,” one fan simply said.

Someone else added: “McTominay is having a disasterclass.”

A third tweeted: “Hannibal [Mejbri] has been excellent. Can’t say the same about McTominay.”

Someone else commented: “How did United not sell McTominay?”

“McTominay is actually so terrible,” a Twitter, AKA X, user wrote.

While a sixth posted: “The decision to sell Fred and keep McTominay is so typical of the abysmal decision-making at United over the last few years.”

Another said: “So many poor performances in that first half but McTominay by far the worst — another example of how well run United are that Fred was shown the door before him.”

McTominay’s future remains unclear

McTominay remained at United after the summer window closed and is under contract until 2025, but it’s unclear if his future at Old Trafford is long term.

Ten Hag is keen to use the United midfielder as a rotational player, but he isn’t afraid to show the door to players who no longer have a purpose in his squad.

The United boss happily pivoted away from using the infamous ‘McFred’ partnership — featuring McTominay and Fred — that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would often rely upon.

With the arrivals of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount in the summer, McTominay will have to step up big time if he wants to make more starts under Ten Hag.
