Manchester United fans are all divided as Sheikh Jassim pulls out of race to buy the club

Manchester United’s fanbase was left shaken and divided after the news came out that Sheikh Jassim had withdrawn from the race to buy the club.

After 11 long months, it seems finally the long running takeover saga is on its last legs.

The latest reports reveal that Sheikh Jassim has withdrawn his bid to buy the club. This comes after the Glazer family’s ridiculous valuation amid a final offer of £5bn-plus.

The updates however do signal that Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be successful in his quest to become involved in the club. A 25 per cent stake is believed to be on the cards for him, which is seen as the first step toward full ownership.

So after all this news, Manchester United fans have been divided, here is what they’ve had to say…

Fans left divided on Sheikh Jassim withdrawing his interest

As expected the withdrawal of interest from Qatar has left many fans bemused as this would’ve led to heavy investment.

One fan account however wasn’t surprised, as they wrote on X: “The majority of Manchester United fans are not even surprised by this entire circus. A complete sale was never on the cards. Not at the valuation the Glazers expected anyway.”

Another wrote: “If the Glazers can reject almost 7 BILLION dollars from Sheikh Jassim, then it’s likely they’ll only accept a minority stake from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, which means the greedy Glazers get to stay. The worst possible news!!!”

One was absolutely distraught writing: “This is, without question, the worst day in Man United’s recent history! We’re done, this is the last straw. We are done!”

On the other hand…

On the other side of things, half of the fanbase were instead happy with the news. Preferring a Ratcliffe takeover anyway.

One wrote: “The soul of the club is worth 100x the value of any cup, pot or pan we could ever win.”

Another insisted that being owned by Qatar was never the answer: “The Glazers are abysmal owners and what they’ve been able to do at United is disgraceful. There’s no perfect alternative, but being state-owned wasn’t it and never will be.”

While a third said that fans should accept Ratcliffe will win the race: “Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now the only hope for any sort of deal so maybe people shouldn’t have been so quick to slag him off in the first place.”
