Borussia Dortmund could be priced out of a deal to bring Jadon Sancho back to Germany with the winger earning around £300,000-a-week at Premier League giants Manchester United.
As Erik ten Hag awaits an apology which seems destined never to arrive – Jadon Sancho sharing Elton John’s view that sorry, indeed, seems to be the hardest word – it is difficult to imagine a situation where February 1st arrives and the England international is still a Manchester United player.
According to reports, there is interest from Juventus. Chelsea too, per The Athletic.
Rumours of a return to Borussia Dortmund are also refusing to go away, even if TEAMtalk insists that Sancho’s staggering weekly wage – in the region of £300,000 – is likely to pose a considerable problem to last season’s Bundesliga runners-up.

Jadon Sanco set for Manchester United exit
Dortmund, TEAMtalk say, are ‘very’ keen. BVB would struggle to stump up even half of Sancho’s pay-packet, however. If a return is to happen then, either the player accepts a substantial pay-cut, or Manchester United agree to subsidise his wages for the time being, in an attempt to save Ten Hag – who found himself in a similar situation 12 months earlier with Cristiano Ronaldo – from another unwanted off-field distraction.
“We’ll have to see what happens with Jadon Sancho,” Fabrizio Romano explains via his Caught Offside column.
“It currently looks difficult to see a way back for him at Old Trafford. I see him leaving in January. And, if he does (depart), then I expect there will be some internal discussions about replacing him.”
£65 million required
Manchester United have already been linked, with varying degrees of seriousness and reliability, with a number of talented widemen. Napoli’s Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa and Juventus’ Federico Chiesa among them.
Sancho, meanwhile, has not featured since a 30 minute cameo against Nottingham Forest back in August. The Athletic believe that any club looking to offer the ex-Man City prospect a permanent escape route from Old Trafford would have to stump up somewhere in the region of £65 million.
