Wilfried Zaha sends poignant message after scoring vital goal against Manchester United

Wilfried Zaha scored for Galatasaray in their win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

We all knew it was coming. Wilfried Zaha made his return to Old Trafford with Galatasaray, and didn’t waste time getting on the scoresheet.

It felt inevitable he would score, just like former Red Devils talent Danny Welbeck has a habit of scoring against us, and how Josh King also did.

Zaha haunted United this evening, scoring in Galatasaray’s 3-2 win.

Zaha draws line under miserable United spell

Wilfried Zaha signed for Manchester United in 2013, and was the final player bought by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sadly he never got to play under the Scot, who soon retired, and Zaha didn’t hit it off at Old Trafford.

After returning to Crystal Palace, who he led to a win at Old Trafford in 2019 and 2020, Zaha quit Selhurst Park this summer to sign for Galatasaray, tempted by the lure of the Champions League.

Right now his decision looks like a smart one. He is enjoying playing on the big stage.

Zaha sends message

Zaha sent a poignant message after Galatasaray’s win, suggesting this was the big moment he had been waiting for in his career, drawing a line under his spell at United, which the press were so keen to remind him of this week, and drag up the past.

He wrote on Instagram: “Gods timing is the best timing! Live for these moments especially @championsleague nights ! So proud of the boys today.”

Galatasaray are now in second place in the group, four points ahead of Manchester United. If the Red Devils are going to make it to the knockout stages, we need to go to Turkey and win, which looks beyond us right now, to be quite honest.
