Report: Ten Hag already eyeing summer move to bring another Ajax player to Manchester United

Manchester United are interested in signing Ajax striker Brian Brobbey – but a move would be more likely for the end of the season than this month.

United are being linked with all manner of strikers this month.

Bayern Munich veteran Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been mentioned as an experienced head to help Rasmus Hojlund’s development.

At the other end of the spectrum is Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee, who is another talented young forward at just 22.

Zirkzee isn’t the only Dutch striker on United’s radar though with Erik ten Hag now keen to engineer another reunion…

Manchester United eyeing move for Ajax striker Brian Brobbey

The Mirror now claim that United are ‘keeping tabs’ on Ajax striker Brian Brobbey ahead of the summer transfer window.

Brobbey seemingly isn’t being lined up for the January window but is more of a longer-term target on the United radar.

The 21-year-old has been in good form this season, hitting 12 goals and four assists in 24 appearances.

Brobbey was linked with United in 2022 as Ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford, but he chose to return to Ajax from RB Leipzig.

Brobbey even joked that he would want Ten Hag to take him to United within two years – and that could come to fruition with United keen.

The powerful striker spoke about United coach Mitchell van der Gaag in December, hailing him for his gruelling training sessions.

There are clear connections between Brobbey and the United coaching staff, but that may actually concern some United supporters.

United fans would be right to question another Ten Hag pick

A theme throughout Ten Hag’s tenure has been reunions with his former players.

Lisandro Martinez and Antony both followed Ten Hag to United in 2022 before Andre Onana and Sofyan Amrabat joined last summer.

Onana was another former Ajax man whilst Amrabat worked under Ten Hag at FC Utrecht.

Some have questioned whether Ten Hag should have so much power to keep signing his former players – especially when the results have been mixed t best.

Antony’s struggles and Amrabat’s lack of impact will leave some questioning Ten Hag’s personal recommendations from his Eredivisie days.

Brobbey could be next in line, but Ten Hag needs to get to the end of the season first amid major questions about his Old Trafford future.
