Manchester United have yet to really benefit from the emergence of the Saudi Pro League, but that could change this summer.
This summer Manchester United could be braced for a few big-money approaches this summer from the Saudi Pro League.
Casemiro would make sense if it came off with his age and wages making him a player United would happily let go.
Another could be Bruno Fernandes with the United captain being linked with Al-Hilal over the past week after they failed with a January bid, but the summer could be a different story if an ‘astronomical‘ offer materialises.
Fernandes, who has been lauded as a ‘special‘ player by Nuno Espirito Santo, is a United legend in the making but as he turns 30 this year, the new regime could see a massive offer as an opportunity to improve – it’s how a successful club would act.
We aren’t saying we want him to be sold, but if an offer in the region of £100m was to arrive at Omar Berrada‘s door it is hard to imagine he would refuse.
But if this happens, United will need a replacement, and right now there’s nobody better than Florian Wirtz.
Manchester United should look at Florian Wirtz if Bruno Fernandes is sold
A German international, Wirtz is possibly the best attacking midfielder in Europe right now and this season he’s been on fire. The German number 10 has grabbed 23 goal contributions this season already (8 goals, 15 assists).
The 20-year-old has been lauded as the ‘total package‘ by Hansi Flick in the past and it’s clear to see why as he’s supreme in multiple aspects.
On average per game, he creates on average 2.78 chances per game and has 3.07 successful dribbles per game too according to FotMob which is in the upper echelons of his position.
His creativity is his biggest tool, along with how often he’s involved in the game as he’s created more chances than 96% of his positional peers and had more touches than 99%.
With a match rating of 7.86 on average, his consistency is staggering and he’s been vital in Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title charge.
How much would Florian Wirtz cost Manchester United?
An insane offer for Fernandes would do the heavy lifting on Wirtz’s fee as he holds a current market value of £85m according to CIES.
Along with Wirtz’s transfer fee, he is likely to expect a drastic pay rise on his current £49k-a-week deal, according to Capology.
However for this large amount of money, United would be getting the best in his position and at 20, he could easily be at the club for 10 years in which he’d more than pay off his fee.
Wirtz would be perfect in front of a midfield pivot of Kobbie Mainoo and whoever is chosen to partner him, possibly Everton’s Amadou Onana.
