'I said' - Louis Saha pinpoints exact moment 'unique' Man Utd legend blew him away, his one-word reaction to iconic moment says it all

Former France striker Louis Saha has revealed the exact moment when he realised that one Manchester United legend was destined to reach the apex of the football world.

Louis Saha arrived at Old Trafford in 2004 after making a lasting impression on former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson while he was at Fulham.

The 45-year-old Frenchman, who was a £12.4m signing for the Red Devils, scored 42 times in 124 appearances during his time under United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.

Despite the high praise placed on his shoulders as a player, Saha’s full potential at Old Trafford was curtailed by injuries during his four-and-a-half years at the club.

Saha, who lifted two Premier League titles, a Champions League and a League Cup with the Red Devils, left Old Trafford in 2008 and signed for Everton.

The former France international would later play for Tottenham, Sunderland and Lazio before he called it time on his career in 2013.

Saha’s reaction to Man Utd legend

During his time at Old Trafford, Louis Saha shared the pitch with a star-studded roster of talent, including Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo first arrived at United in 2003 after legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson signed him from Portuguese side Sporting CP.

Ronaldo had a seminal impact in his first spell at Old Trafford and shot to superstardom during his time with the Red Devils.

The 39-year-old United legend lifted three Premier League titles, a Champions League, an FA Cup and two League Cups under Ferguson’s tutelage.

Saha recalled his reaction to one iconic moment that left him in awe at Ronaldo’s brilliance and convinced him he was “unique.”

The former United striker shared an Instagram Reel from United’s official page featuring Ronaldo’s bullet header against Roma in the Champions League.

Ronaldo burst into the box in the first half and connected with Paul Scholes’ cross to fire home an exceptional header in the first-leg quarter-final tie.

“This is the moment I realised that [Cristiano Ronaldo] was unique and will become the best ever,” Saha wrote on Instagram.

Gary Neville agreed with Saha’s reaction

United legend Gary Neville admitted that he was left in awe at Ronaldo’s header against Roma and that he had “never seen anything like it.”

“His goal that he scored against Roma, to this day, is the best goal I’ve ever seen,” he told ESPN in 2018, as per the Metro.

“It’s the most miraculous goal that I’ve ever seen. He jumped from the edge of the box and headed it on the penalty spot at full speed.

“And he’d sprinted from the halfway line nearly. I had never seen anything like it.”
