Manchester United now have a “concrete possibility” of signing one player this summer after Erik ten Hag inked a contract extension with the Red Devils.
That is according to football agent Giulio Tedeschi, who has offered his two cents on one piece of transfer business Manchester United could complete this summer.
Erik ten Hag’s future was plunged into doubt after Ineos commissioned an end-of-season review in the aftermath of United’s FA Cup triumph in May.
The 54-year-old Dutchman oversaw a 2023-24 campaign where his United first-team squad was injured and the Red Devils limped to an eighth-place league finish.
Despite United’s poor run of form in the Premier League, Ineos eventually came to the decision to retain Ten Hag and the Dutchman inked a contract extension.
Ten Hag has overseen changes to his coaching staff this summer, including Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy arriving as assistant managers at United.
United have also cleared out players from the first team, with Donny van de Beek and Mason Greenwood among the players to leave Old Trafford this summer.
Man Utd could sign one player
Sofyan Amrabat made his return to Serie A club Fiorentina this summer after a season-long loan at Manchester United.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day in 2023 and added midfield depth to Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad.
Amrabat managed 30 appearances across all competitions for United last season, with the Fiorentina player failing to score or register a single assist.
The Morocco international underwhelmed at times for United, but Amrabat also impressed on occasions like his superb performance in the FA Cup final.
United paid £8.5m for Amrabat’s loan spell and had the option to buy him permanently for a £21.4m fee at the end of the season.
Speaking to Firenze Viola, football agent Giulio Tedeschi believes that Amrabat could still return to Old Trafford after Ten Hag’s long-term future was settled.
“Right now, in my opinion, there is a concrete possibility of bringing Amrabat back to Manchester United,” he said.
“In my opinion, there was some doubt also because it was not known whether Ten Hag would stay.
“Now that it’s certain that he will stay, there are grounds to think about bringing Amrabat back even on loan with obligation, or at a lower figure.”
Tedeschi on how Man Utd can sign Amrabat
Sofyan Amrabat has returned to Fiorentina after United turned down the option to buy him permanently from the Italian side.
Tedeschi believes there is still a chance United could sign the Morocco and Fiorentina midfielder if they meet a “mid-range figure” for the deal.
“The United solution is the easiest,” he continued.
“I believe Amrabat’s renewal with Fiorentina until 2026 was done deliberately to help La Viola gain strength. It’s a tactic that clubs do to gain bargaining power.
“If it’s not €20m [£16.8m], it won’t even be €10m [£8.4m]. It will be a mid-range figure, trying to maximise his sale.”
