Jadon Sancho sends lacklustre message to Manchester United fans, Kobbie Mainoo responds

Jadon Sancho sealed a deadline day move away from Manchester United to Chelsea, and is not expected to return.

Jadon Sancho is officially one of eight players out on loan away from Manchester United – but don’t expect him to return.

Sancho signed on loan for Chelsea, penning a loan deal which has an obligation to buy, the final figure dependent on their league position at the end of the seaosn.

Now, Sancho has been presented in a Chelsea shirt with both clubs formally announcing the deal. And he has said his goodbyes.

Jadon Sancho says goodbye

One of the hints that Jadon Sancho was never truly committed to his Manchester United return was his Instagram profile.

Despite returning to training for Manchester United in early July, the winger’s social media feed stayed emblazoned with pictures from his Borussia Dortmund spell, and no mention of the Red Devils.

Now he has finally posted a picture wearing a United shirt – with a fairly lacklustre goodbye message.

He wrote: “Thank you to all the fans, staff and teammates @manchesterunited Wishing everyone all the best in the future.”

There was no emotion in Sancho’s message, no regret it did not work out, no taking accountability for his own failure and simply wishing for a fresh start.

Sancho will go down as one of United’s worst ever signings, having arrived with high expectations and looking off the pace from day one.

Kobbie Mainoo responds

Sancho did get on with his Manchester United teammates despite his struggles on the pitch.

The first player to respond was midfield wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo, who offered a genuine response, writing: “All the best bro.”

Aside from wishing that the loan goes moderately well enough for Sancho’s loan to turn permanent with no hitches, United fans won’t wish him too much luck.

But at Chelsea, a club with a confusing strategy and more competition for places than United and more wingers set to arrive next summer, Sancho will need all the ‘luck’ he can get.
