Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund both shared the same two Manchester United legends in their top three favourite Red Devils players of all time.
Rasmus Hojlund is currently set to miss the opening of the 2024-25 Premier League season after he picked up an injury during the pre-season tour.
The 21-year-old Manchester United striker opened the scoring against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly before he was forced off in the first half due to injury.
Hojlund is now expected to be out of action for six weeks after a hamstring problem and is tipped to return after the September international break.
Scott McTominay, on the other hand, could still leave Old Trafford this summer amid fierce interest from Premier League club Fulham.
The 27-year-old United midfielder is out of contract next summer and McTominay’s long-term future at the Premier League club remains uncertain.
Erik ten Hag remains a big fan of McTominay and considers the Scotland international a key part of his first-team squad at Old Trafford.
Despite the uncertainty around his future, McTominay came off the bench for a second-half cameo in the defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield.
McTominay and Hojlund pick top three Man Utd players
Speaking to GQ Sports, both Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund were asked to name their top three favourite Manchester United players.
Red Devils stars Hojlund and McTominay both had United legends Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo among their picks.
Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed incredible success at Old Trafford during their time playing together under legendary ex-manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ronaldo and Rooney were part of a devastating trident attack force that Sir Alex Ferguson had in the past, with the pair linking up superbly well with Carlos Tevez.
Hojlund chose differently from McTominay for one pick, with the Danish forward opting for former United striker Robin van Persie.
Robin van Persie left Arsenal in 2012 and played an instrumental role under Ferguson in United’s last Premier League title win in the 2012-13 campaign.
McTominay’s final pick was none other than United legend George Best, who is widely regarded as one of the best players in the club’s history.
Ten Hag on Man Utd and new season
Erik ten Hag will take charge of United for his third season and the Red Devils will kick off their 2024-25 Premier League campaign on Friday against Fulham.
Speaking after the Community Shield defeat on Saturday, Ten Hag insisted that his focus was ensuring that United start off the Premier League season in strong fashion.
“The league start is the most important,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“I think we can take a lot of positives from this game, and it will give us confidence but also a little bit of pain in our stomach.
“When you are twice leading – in the game and in the penalties – then you have to feel the pain. We were very close but [did] not [win] a trophy.”
