Manchester United are in Europa League action and one player has left Fenerbache boss Jose Mourinho absolutely stunned.
Erik ten Hag travelled to Turkiye in desperate need of a positive result in the Europa League.
Manchester United’s start to the new Europa League campaign has been disappointing to say the very least.
United drew 1-1 with FC Twente before squandering a 2-0 lead to draw 3-3 at Porto.
Two points from two games just isn’t good enough for United and a result in Turkiye against Fenerbahce was paramount.
At the time of writing, United are 1-0 up thanks to Christian Eriksen’s opener from a Joshua Zirkzee assist.
Manchester United star stuns Jose Mourinho
This has not been an outstanding display from United though as there have been some scares.
Manuel Ugarte produced a stunning block to deny a certain Dusan Tadic goal before Andre Onana produced a moment of brilliance.
Sebastian Szymański’s left-wing cross found its way through to Youssef En-Nesyri but his first effort was brilliantly saved by Onana.
As the ball came back into the box, En-Nesyri was first on the scene once again as he headed the ball towards goal.
Onana produced another acrobatic stop though, tipping the ball over the bar as United players celebrated his double save.
Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho wasn’t quite so delighted but simply couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
Mourinho was seen in absolute amazement as Onana denied his side not once but twice in an effort to preserve his clan sheet.
The Fenerbahce was even seen laughing and joking with Onana in the tunnel before the second half, no doubt marvelling at his remarkable saves.
Onana’s strong season continues
This has been a tricky start to the season for United and there haven’t been many players stepping up to the mark.
Onana has arguably been United’s best player this season, producing save after save.
Rio Ferdinand picked out Onana for praise despite a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, believing that he was showing the level required for a United player.
We are also seeing more of Onana’s quality on the ball with the Cameroonian improving on a slightly mixed first season at Old Trafford after signing from Inter Milan.
