Manchester United fans have dropped their two cents on Mason Mount after the former Chelsea ace’s performance against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.
Ruben Amorim took charge of the Red Devils for the first time at Old Trafford on Thursday evening against Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt.
The ex-Sporting CP manager, who arrived at the Red Devils during the November break, led Manchester United to a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town last week.
Ahead of the Bodo/Glimt match on Thursday evening, the Red Devils have endured a mixed start to their Europa League campaign in the 2024-25 season.
Former United manager Erik ten Hag led the Red Devils to three consecutive draws in the Europa League before he was axed by the Premier League club in October.
Ruud van Nistelrooy was installed as interim manager after Erik ten Hag was sacked and the Dutchman secured the Red Devils’ first win in Europe earlier this month.
The United legend, who was assistant manager to Ten Hag, oversaw United’s 2-0 win over Greek side PAOK at Old Trafford ahead of Ruben Amorim’s arrival.
Mount starts for Man Utd vs Bodo/Glimt
Mason Mount has struggled to make his presence felt at Old Trafford after Manchester United signed him from Chelsea in 2023.
The Red Devils dropped a hefty initial fee of £55m to land Mount and the former Chelsea star’s run at Old Trafford has been curtailed by injury.
Mount’s 2024-25 campaign was once again hit with injuries, with the United star missing several weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in August.
Ruben Amorim used the ex-England international for a brief cameo against Ipswich Town last Sunday before handing him a place in the starting XI against Bodo/Glimt.
Mount had a relatively quiet first half and failed to make his presence felt in the match at first, but the United player had more of an impact in the second half.
The former Three Lions star hit the bar against Bodo/Glimt before Mount set up Rasmus Hojlund for the Denmark striker’s second of the match.
Mount, who was deployed as one of the two No 10s in support of Rasmus Hojlund, was pulled off in the 59th minute and replaced with Marcus Rashford.
Man Utd fans react to Mount’s Europa League performance
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, praised Mount for his strong showing against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.
Red Devils supporters have tipped Mount to be “immense” under Amorim and have now backed the former Chelsea star to become a “vital player” under him.
“Mason Mount will be so immense in this Amorim system. Fingers crossed,” one fan said.
Someone else added: “That’s Mason Mount’s best [match] in a United shirt, incredible in this system.”
Another wrote: “Mason Mount [with a] very good performance, I must admit I doubted him but I see Amorim’s vision with how he is going to use him, very impressed tonight.”
“Mason Mount will be a big player under Amorim if he stays fit,” a fourth wrote.
While a fifth X user tweeted: “A fit Mason Mount is a complete game-changer. If we can keep him healthy, it’s — and I hate saying this — like a new signing.”
And a sixth posted: “Mason Mount was absolutely class today. Kept it simple. Pressed, passed, listened. Top player if [he] stays fit.”
Somebody else suggested: “This is the Mason Mount we signed from Chelsea, really impressed. Going to be a vital player under Amorim in this system.”
“Mason Mount might seal his position in this Amorim line-up… He understands it so well,” another said.
