Rangers legend Ally McCoist singled out two Manchester United players under Ruben Amorim ahead of the Red Devils’ crucial Europa League tie against Real Sociedad.
Ruben Amorim’s men progressed out of the Europa League’s league phase and Manchester United secured their place in the knockout rounds of the tournament.
The Red Devils were drawn against Real Sociedad in the round of 16 and United will travel away to the Reale Arena for their first-leg tie on Thursday evening.
The pressure has ramped up on United to lift the Europa League trophy after Amorim’s side crashed out of the FA Cup on Sunday.
The Red Devils’ FA Cup title defence came to an end after Fulham secured a penalty shootout win over United and Marco Silva’s men punched their ticket to the quarter-finals.
United languish in 14th place in the Premier League table and the Europa League remains the Red Devils’ best route for securing Champions League football next season.

Ally McCoist reveals Bruno Fernandes’ Man Utd influence
Ally McCoist previewed Manchester United’s upcoming Europa League encounter and he is not convinced the Red Devils will win on their current run of form.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the Rangers legend admitted that United face an uphill battle in reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League under Ruben Amorim.
McCoist added that Bruno Fernandes is the only player stepping up for United manager Amorim after his impact in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Bruno Fernandes found the all-important equaliser in the second half to send the FA Cup tie to extra time and penalties before United lost to Fulham at Old Trafford.
McCoist also insisted that struggling United striker Rasmus Hojlund “sadly looks lost” and the Red Devils are in a “horrible” run of form in the 2024-25 campaign.
“I’m not sure they’ll go to the next round. Not on this form,” he said.
“Bruno Fernandes is the one player who turns up, you know, he’ll give you a goal, he’ll give you a freekick, he’ll give you something.
“But apart from that… I thought his goal [at] the weekend was a brilliant strike, I mean it was a tremendous goal, but he’s the only one.
“If you need something, there’s no one else. Hojlund sadly looks lost, it’s horrible.”
Rasmus Hojlund’s Man Utd confidence must be rebuilt
Rasmus Hojlund lasted only 68 minutes in Sunday’s 1-1 draw in the FA Cup before Amorim withdrew him and replaced him with United youngster Chido Obi-Martin.
Chido Obi-Martin impressed United fans with his performance and Hojlund was forced to watch on from the bench as his goalscoring drought extended.
Hojlund has not scored in his last 18 matches for the Red Devils and the 22-year-old United striker has failed to find the back of the net in 2025.
The Denmark international has not scored since his second-half brace in United’s 2-1 comeback win against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League last December.
United will be without Chido Obi for the Europa League tie against Real Sociedad and Hojlund could have another shot at breaking his goalscoring drought.
