Man United learn £55m asking price for 18-goal star who is a perfect Marcus Rashford replacement

Manchester United will be scouring the transfer market for an ideal No.10 in the summer window.

With Ineos planning a summer overhaul, there should be plenty of movement in the transfer window for Manchester United.

United’s current No.10, Marcus Rashford is impressing on loan at Aston Villa and with a £40m buy option attached to the deal, it seems unlikely that he will play for the Red Devils next season.

The same can be said for Jadon Sancho, who is set to join Chelsea for an obligatory £25m fee this summer.

It has left Amorim with very few attacking options this season, but a new striker and a new No.10 will be towards the top of the shopping list.

Man United learn asking price for Ademola Lookman

One player who looks very suited to Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system is Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

United have been linked to Lookman following his impressive form in Italy, and this summer could be an ideal time to seal his signature.

Reports suggested United made contact for Lookman in December 2024 but they were unable to strike up a deal with Atalanta.

Ahead of the summer, CaughtOffside are reporting that Atalanta have set a price tag of £55million (€65m), so United now know exactly what they must pay to get a deal done.

The report adds that Lookman wants to leave this summer, but there are several clubs ready to challenge United for his signature including Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Why Ademola Lookman is an ideal Marcus Rashford replacement

Amorim needs a new striker and No.10 in the summer and Lookman ticks both boxes.

The 27-year-old has scored 18 goals in 32 appearances this season, playing as a striker, left winger and as an attacking midfielder.

That kind of versatility makes him an ideal replacement for Marcus Rashford, who usually played off the left for United but also spent stints as a central striker.

In Amorim’s system, Lookman would likely play on the left of the front three but could also provide cover as a striker.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirmed that United have already spent £89m before the summer window has even opened, so the budget for new signings might be tight.

But with Rashford likely to move on, Lookman is a ready-made replacement.
