Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been slammed for his comments after the Red Devils were dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of Fulham.
The Red Devils hosted Premier League side Fulham at Old Trafford and Marco Silva’s men punched their ticket to the quarter-finals of this season’s FA Cup tournament.
Calvin Bassey opened the scoring for Fulham before half-time after Manchester United’s weakness from set pieces was once again exploited in the first half.
Ruben Amorim’s men fought back in the second half and Bruno Fernandes pulled the Red Devils level and forced the fifth-round FA Cup tie to extra time.
United and Fulham played out a 1-1 scoreline through extra time and penalties eventually separated the two sides, with the Red Devils falling short on the night.
Marco Silva’s side netted all four of their penalties past United No 1 Andre Onana on Sunday and the Red Devils converted three of their five spot-kick attempts.
Bernd Leno denied both Joshua Zirkzee and Victor Lindelof from the spot-kick and United subsequently crashed out of the FA Cup on the weekend.

Ex-Man Utd star slams Amorim
Former Manchester United player Gordon Hill took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and slammed the Red Devils’ showing on Sunday.
The 70-year-old said that he thought United “wanted to prove a point” with their performance and he was “wrong” with the Red Devils making said point.
“Watching that game hoping for a result,” Gordon Hill tweeted.
“Two poor teams and I could not have cared who won it, both teams should have been out of the cup.
“I expected Fulham to put on a show, I thought United wanted to prove a point. I was wrong totalling wrong. Clueless comes to mind.”
In a separate tweet, Hill pulled no punches towards Ruben Amorim and claimed that the United manager is in “over his head” with his post-match remarks.
The former England and United winger also insisted that he is “a Dutchman” if Amorim fully believed what he said about the Red Devils.
“Just heard his interview, he is [in] over his head,” Hill posted.
“If they are getting better is what I heard him say, well, I am a Dutchman.”
What did Amorim say in his Man Utd interview?
Amorim is now looking ahead to United’s upcoming first-leg Europa League clash in the last 16 against La Liga side Real Sociedad away from home on Thursday.
The United manager shared his two cents on the Europa League tie and Amorim boldly suggested that the Red Devils are “improving,” despite their results.
“It’s really important [the Europa League match vs Real Sociedad],” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“We have to recover the players and push the other players that are out. Like you saw today, they were really tired.
“We have a lot of recovery to be ready for the game. I think we are improving. I feel the players are more confident with the ball and the positioning. But I can see we need to win games in the end.
“Winning can help give confidence to the team but to maintain the idea, we show it every day in video and, in training, we use every little bit of training and the games to improve.
“It’s just to focus on what we have to do. The only way I know how to help my players is not trying to push them up with kind words. It’s just to focus on the next game, the characteristics of the opponents.
“Evaluate this game and it’s the only wait to gain confidence because I don’t know how to teach my players to be more confident. If we win, we’ll be more confident so let’s focus on the next game.”
