Tyler Fredricson had multiple opportunities to leave Manchester United on loan this summer. At least two Scottish Premiership clubs were interested in the young defender, including Celtic.
Manchester United extended their loanee list in January to give more academy players the chance to gain first-team experience.
Two of the highest-profile loan moves saw Harry Amass join Norwich City until the end of the season, while Toby Collyer signed for Hull City after being recalled from a loan spell at West Ham earlier this month.
What is the one deal you would love to see Man Utd do on DEADLINE DAY?
Incoming OR outgoing…
United have just 14 games left to play in the Premier League this season, so Michael Carrick has had to decide which youth players are less likely to get minutes in the first team and would be better served sent on loan elsewhere.
Carrick may feel that some of the players aren’t ready for first-team football at United. In that case, their development must be prioritised, unless there are hurdles like injuries preventing that for the foreseeable future.

Celtic and Aberdeen expressed interest in Tyler Fredricson
Tyler Fredricson became a United youth team graduate last season, stepping up to make his debut under Ruben Amorim.
The young centre-back played in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town before having to wait until Boxing Day to come off the bench in United’s win over Newcastle.
Fredricson has not played since, and the competition for centre backs is fierce at the moment, with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez getting the nod over Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro.
Carrick will also have another option to select from when Matthijs de Ligt returns from injury, although the newly appointed United head coach has yet to give a specific return date for the Dutch centre-back.
Fredricson had been the subject of significant interest, but a recent injury blow will prevent him from leaving the club on a temporary deal.
According to BBC Sport, Celtic enquired about Fredricson during this transfer window, while fellow Scottish Premiership outfit Aberdeen were ‘really keen’, along with League One promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town.
Fredricson has started just three games for United’s U21s this season, as well as making the senior matchday squad on 10 different occasions.
It remains to be seen how long United will be without Fredricson due to injury, but it doesn’t sound promising that it has stopped him from leaving the club this month.
Would you give Chido Obi another chance in the first-team?
He's improved a lot for Manchester United…
What did Ruben Amorim say about Tyler Fredicson?
Amorim was impressed with Fredricson after arriving at the club.
He spoke highly of the defender before giving him his debut against Wolves.
Speaking to MUTV, Amorim said (quoted by Manchester Evening News): “He’s really composed, he’s really humble, every training he has with the first-team, he is really focused on every detail of training.
“He’s really good on the ball, and it’s a good opportunity for him.”
