Luke Shaw’s ‘incredible’ feat in 2025/26 season makes him Man Utd’s true ‘unsung hero,’ claims MUTV pundit

MUTV pundit and commentator Liam Bradford has been blown away by one standout detail from Luke Shaw’s Manchester United season at Old Trafford.

Luke Shaw is one of the most experienced names in the Manchester United first-team squad since his stunning 2014 transfer from Southampton.

The 30-year-old England international has featured under Ruben Amorim, former interim head coach Michael Carrick and caretaker boss Darren Fletcher this season.

Despite Shaw’s injury-prone United spell, Liam Bradford singled out the Three Lions left-back for one important reason ahead of the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Luke Shaw is on the verge of completing a full season at Manchester United where he has been in the starting XI for all of the Red Devils’ Premier League matches.

United have been reduced to a 40-match campaign overall across all competitions, but Shaw has been able to avoid any major injury setbacks in the current season.

Shaw has netted once and registered an assist in 37 Premier League fixtures under former United manager Ruben Amorim, Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher.

Speaking to United Review ahead of the Brighton match, Liam Bradford highlighted the significance of Shaw’s ability to feature in every league fixture so far this season.

“If you’re making a list of top performers for Manchester United this season, Luke Shaw would be one of the names near the top,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“It’s incredible to think he has started every Premier League game, and of the 3,240 minutes available so far, he’s been on the field for 3,059 [stats before Sunday] – a whopping 94 per cent.

“If you look deeper into the Opta data, you also notice that no player in the United side has intercepted the ball more often than the full-back; that he wins nine out of every 10 duels he’s involved in.”

Shaw has netted once and registered an assist in his 37 Premier League matches this season, but Bradford thinks his consistent performances have spoken volumes.

“The eye test is complimentary too: his off-the-ball running, plus his ability to pick a pass and draw defenders away from United’s left-winger have consistently been exceptional,” Bradford added.

“He’s a senior figure in the dressing room, always pleasant when you bump into him in the hallways at Carrington and, for me, the most unsung of United’s heroes this season.

“What a season – and what a pleasure it’s been to watch.”

United will return to Premier League action for the final time this season on Sunday afternoon, with Brighton hosting the Red Devils at the Amex for a 4pm kick-off.
