Manchester United’s pursuit of Ederson from Atalanta has been heating up this weekend, and now the deal is said to only have one stumbling block.
Out of nowhere in the past couple of days, Ederson to Manchester United has become the most discussed transfer in the nation.
Italian press have been pushing the reports, with United closing in on a deal according to journalists on Friday.
Then, Atalanta left Ederson out on Friday night against Fiorentina, adding fuel to the fire as the club’s manager claimed the reason was the Brazilian is close to a move.
Now, the move has taken further steps forward.

Manchester United closing in on Ederson deal
Ederson isn’t going to the World Cup with Brazil, which means his signing is more attractive because he will be available for pre-season.
The Brazilian midfielder is likely considered as a second or third choice addition to the squad, but now it looks like a deal is about to be completed.
It comes according to the journalist Matteo Moretto, who works with Fabrizio Romano, the deal is very close.
An agreement in principle has been reached between the clubs and the player, Moretto claimed on the Fabrizio Romano in Italiano YouTube. He continues that the reason behind Ederson’s absence on Friday night was because the player requested he not play because of how advanced his transfer is.
However, Moretto notes that the deal is not 100% completed yet, with the clubs yet to work out commission related issues which is the final step to complete, but the expectation is to close the deal next week.
He also adds that the fee United will pay is much closer to £34m than £43m which has been suggested.
Mateus Fernandes to United latest
Ederson isn’t the only deal being accelerated right now, as Mateus Fernandes of West Ham is also a link developing every day.
United have been increasingly linked with Fernandes in recent days and appear to be leading the race for his signature.
According to the reliable X account Sully Talkz, United now believe that Fernandes is giving them priority over other clubs after talks with his representatives went well.
The 21-year-old is high on United’s list, with Michael Carrick and the data team signing off on him. But the deal is currently depending on West Ham’s asking price, and more particularly, whether they are relegated.
Given these deals being seemingly quite advanced, we might see United really push forward and near completion on these deals next week.
