Man Utd star Mason Mount shares what he thought about Benjamin Sesko on ‘day one’ in training

Mason Mount has told Manchester United fans about his true feelings on seeing Benjamin Sesko immediately in training after the in-form striker’s 2025 transfer.

Benjamin Sesko was linked with both Arsenal and Newcastle last summer before Manchester United switched their full focus on the 22-year-old Slovenian forward.

The Red Devils splashed out a hefty deal worth £73.7m to sign Sesko, with the Red Devils paying an initial transfer fee of £66.3m to German side RB Leipzig.

Sesko has been slowly coming into his own at Old Trafford and the Slovenia international has seen an uptick in form in recent months under Michael Carrick.

Mason Mount said that there was ‘definitely something’ that caught his eye about former RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko

Benjamin Sesko went his first five Premier League matches without scoring under Ruben Amorim before finding the back of the net in consecutive appearances.

The Manchester United striker has been undergoing sporadic patches in goalscoring form until the arrival of interim Red Devils head coach Michael Carrick in January.

Sesko has scored an impressive seven times in 13 Premier League matches under United legend Carrick in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Mason Mount admitted that Sesko immediately showed his potential to him during his first Man Utd training session since his RB Leipzig exit.

“It takes a little bit of time to kind of settle in, but from day one, from my point of view, as soon as I saw him in training, there was definitely something there and I thought he’s like as a person, he’s very driven, very professional,” he said.

“Obviously, recently, he’s scored a few goals, but he will continue scoring goals and really push on.”

Mason Mount’s prediction for Benjamin Sesko amid the Man Utd and Slovenia striker’s first season at Old Trafford

Sesko has crossed double digits in goalscoring numbers in his debut campaign at Old Trafford after netting 12 times and registering one assist in 32 matches across all competitions.

Mount believes that the former RB Leipzig and Salzburg forward has all the potential to become one of the best strikers in world football.

“He could definitely be one of the best strikers in the world if he carries on going,” he added.

“I think he’s got all the attributes. He can finish. It’s unbelievable in the air, hold up play. So yeah, I’m a big fan of Ben.”

Sesko was absent from Man Utd’s last Premier League outing against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last week due to an injury that the striker suffered.
