England kicked off their World Cup win with a win over Croatia and one star clearly caught the eye of Manchester United’s recruitment team.
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford scored for England in the 2026 World Cup as the Three Lions kickstarted their campaign with a 4-2 win over Croatia.
But it was another winger on the pitch who caught the eye of Manchester United staff.
Michael Carrick made it clear that United are in the market for a winger, and Croatia’s Martin Baturina has emerged as a new transfer target.

Man United showing interest in Croatia’s Martin Baturina
According to SportWitness, United are one of several clubs showing interest in Baturina, who plays his club football under Cesc Fabregas at Como.
Aston Villa and Bayern Munich are also credited with interest, while Leeds United also made an attempt to sign the 23-year-old in January.
Como have already rejected a €50 million bid for Baturina according to Sky Italia, so signing him this summer will likely require an even bigger offer, especially after his breakthrough at the World Cup.
United have previously scouted Baturina and now Ineos could step up their transfer interest.
Martin Baturina starred for Croatia against England
Baturina regularly plays as a left winger for Como, or even as an attacking midfielder.
But for Croatia, he lined up on the right of their front three, showcasing his versatility as a forward.
Baturina scored Croatia’s first goal against England, levelling the scores with a thunderous effort that flew past Jordan Pickford.
