4-3-3: Predicted Manchester United XI v Nottingham Forest, strong side, 4 changes

Manchester United take on Nottingham Forest tomorrow night as the Red Devils’ Premier League campaign finally returns.

This is United’s first match against the newly promoted side in more than two decades. Forest have won only three league games this season, but they will be up for the tie at Old Trafford.

The match will see former United midfielder Jesse Lingard return, potentially getting the send-off from fans he was denied under Ralf Rangnick.

United loanee Dean Henderson is ineligible to play, per conditions of his loan deal.

Predicted Manchester United line-up v Nottingham Forest

United returned to action this week with a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Burnley, setting up a quarter-final against Charlton.

Erik ten Hag fielded a strong side in this game, but not quite his strongest available. This will change for the return of the Premier League.

We are anticipating four changes to the XI which faced Burnley. The first of which is absolutely essential, with David de Gea returning in goal.

United missed De Gea in midweek when Martin Dubravka deputised and looked shaky.

We expect Harry Maguire to make his return from illness and partner Victor Lindelof at centre-back.

This will move Casemiro back into midfield where he will renew partnership with Christian Eriksen. Bruno Fernandes will complete the trio.

In attack, expect Antony to replace Alejandro Garnacho. This will switch Marcus Rashford back to his preferred role on the left wing.

Elsewhere, expect Luke Shaw to return to the side at left-back in place of Tyrell Malacia, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka will retain his place at right-back, with Diogo Dalot still recovering from injury.
