Manchester United star Scott McTominay has laid praise on promising teenager Alejandro Garnacho.
Both players are expected to start Manchester United’s fourth round Carabao Cup clash against Burnley.
In the third round, Garnacho came off the bench and played a wondrous pass for McTominay to score; one of two assists the young Argentine provided.
Garnacho also has two winning goals to his name, and is beginning to establish himself as a first team regular.
McTominay is impressed, but wants his young teammate to keep focused.
McTominay praises Garnacho
Speaking to the club website via a fans Q&A, McTominay lavished praise on Garnacho.
He explained: “He’s a hell of a footballer and obviously for me if he keeps his feet on the ground and keeps learning and keeps wanting to work hard then he can do what he wants in football.
“He’s such a talented player and for us we’ve got to keep him humble and keep him working hard as well.”
Erik ten Hag has also spoken of trying to keep Garnacho grounded and free of distractions, and currently, it seems to be working.
Making the breakthrough to United’s first team is only half the job. Staying there is the harder part, and Garnacho will have competition from other players for his spot.
At the moment, with many first teamers just returning from the World Cup, Garnacho has a headstart, and an opportunity to continue to show what he is capable of.
McTominay’s words show how highly the United squad rate him, and if he keeps on scoring winning goals, his admirers will only grow.
