Paul Ince has wished Christian Eriksen a speedy recovery after being ruled out for up to three months following Andy Carroll’s tackle.
Manchester United will be without the influential 30-year-old for the business end of the season after he picked up an ankle injury following Carroll’s dangerous challenge.
The former Newcastle United and Liverpool striker, who was later sent off in the recent FA Cup fourth-round tie between the Red Devils and Reading, didn’t receive a yellow card for his tackle on United’s number 14.
A livid Erik ten Hag said that there was no place in the game for tackles like what Carroll produced.

Prior to knowing the full extent of Eriksen’s injury, Ince admitted that Carroll’s tackle on the former Brentford playmaker was a “poor” one, and the former Red Devils midfielder’s stance hasn’t changed since Ten Hag’s injury blow was confirmed.
Speaking via BerkshireLive, Ince said: “It’s disappointing for Manchester United to lose a player of that class. To lose him for three months is a big blow to United.
“If I am honest, it was a yellow card – he should have been booked for it.
“There’s no point in me trying to say any different. But the one in the corner, that’s not a booking and the second one – he is sliding and thinking I don’t want to make this tackle, the game goes on but the referee can’t wait to turn around and book him. Definitely, the one on [Christian] Eriksen was a yellow card, there is no getting away from that.
“At the end of the day, you have to feel for [Erik] ten Hag, [Christian] Eriksen and United fans because he’s been in unbelievable form this season and his partnership with Casemiro has been great. I wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.”
Due to the extent of Eriksen’s injury, United acted swiftly and signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich for the remainder of the campaign on deadline day.
The Austrian came off the bench to make his Red Devils debut in United’s 2-1 win against Crystal Palace.
Prior to picking up the ankle injury, Eriksen had scored two goals and provided nine assists from 31 appearances.
