Morocco booked their place in the World Cup quarter-finals with a 3-0 victory over Canada, meaning Noussair Mazraoui’s tournament remains alive after another disciplined performance from the full-back.
The 2026 World Cup round of 16 began with seven Manchester United players competing for a place in the quarter-finals.
Noussair Mazraoui is the first of that seven-man list to secure his place in the next round, with Morocco beating Canada 3-0 on Saturday night.
Morocco will play the winner of Paraguay vs France for a place in the semi-finals.

Analysing Noussair Mazraoui’s performance against Canada
While Canada was the best team in the first half, it was goalless at half-time, and Mazraoui was one of the few Moroccan players to impress.
The United full-back was solid at the back, winning the majority of his duels (11/14), drawing four fouls and recovering the ball five times to help Morocco keep possession.
The African nation broke the deadlock five minutes into the second half, which was undeserved, but the Canadians were unable to find a response.
Morocco secured the win with a second goal when Azzedine Ounahi completed his brace in the 82nd minute, but Soufiane Rahimi came off the bench to make it 3-0 in the 98th minute.
It was another solid display from Mazraoui in Morocco’s defence as he made more defensive contributions (13) than any other player on the pitch.
Mazraoui has had a solid World Cup campaign. Despite a questionable performance from Morocco, it’s not over yet.
