Man Utd’s last starting XI vs Hull City has radically shifted since then as even Michael Carrick played in match

Michael Carrick was part of the last Manchester United team that faced Hull City in the Premier League ahead of the latest encounter against the Tigers.

The 45-year-old Manchester United legend was in the tail end of his Old Trafford prolific playing spell when he crossed paths with Hull City in 2017.

It would be the final time that United played against Hull City in all competitions after the Tigers were relegated to the Championship for the 2017-18 season.

Michael Carrick will now be in the dugout instead of on the pitch for the Red Devils’ 2026-27 Premier League opener against Hull City at the MKM Stadium.

Michael Carrick and Marcus Rashford are the last men standing for Man Utd from the 2017 line-up against Hull City

Jose Mourinho was the Manchester United manager at the time that the Red Devils welcomed Hull City to Old Trafford for their Premier League clash in February 2017.

United and Hull City played out a 0-0 draw at the time and Jose Mourinho’s men were left in 6th place in the Premier League table during the 2016-17 season.

Michael Carrick would call it time on his United spell and career in 2018, but Marcus Rashford is the only player from the last starting XI to still be playing football at Old Trafford.

Mourinho’s starting XI included high-profile names like David de Gea, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, while the likes of Wayne Rooney were on the bench.

Carrick played the first half of the 0-0 draw against Hull City before former Man Utd manager Mourinho subbed him off for England legend Wayne Rooney.

Marcus Rashford, who returned to Old Trafford this summer from Barcelona, played the full 90 minutes against the Tigers in the 2017 Premier League clash.
