Manchester United are in talks with Bruno Fernandes over a new deal and the Portuguese playmaker will surely cement his status as the club’s top earner.
Bruno Fernandes’ contract expires in June 2027, although Manchester United have the option to extend by a further year.
But with Galatasaray showing interest in Fernandes this summer and offering him almost double his current salary, it is no surprise that United are in talks with Fernandes over a new deal.

Fernandes currently earns £300,000 per week on his United contract, placing him as the club’s joint-top earner alongside Marcus Rashford.

What are the highest wages ever paid by Man United?
Ineos have been trying to regain control over United’s wage structure since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover, but Fernandes is an exception worth breaking the structure for.
Previously, United’s wage bill soared out of control in the Glazer era, with huge contracts handed out to undeserving players.
The highest-ever wages paid by United went to Cristiano Ronaldo on his return to Old Trafford in 2021.
As per Boardroom, Ronaldo was earning around £515,000 per week at United during his second stint at the club. It equates to £26.8 million per year.
That not only made Ronaldo the highest-earning player at United, but also across the entire Premier League at the time.
Bruno Fernandes wage discussion at Man United
Fernandes has shown ultimate loyalty to United, rejecting extremely lucrative contracts from Turkey and Saudi Arabia to stay put in Manchester.
His ambition is to win trophies, not to earn more money. But if United are going to tie Fernandes down to more years at Old Trafford, the club will have to pay up.
Fernandes is now 31 years old and approaching the twilight years of his career, but he proved last season by breaking the Premier League assist record that he is still at the peak of his powers.
Ultimately, Fernandes is central to United’s title-winning ambitions and he is an exception to the wage structure built by Ineos.
Fernandes deserves to be United’s highest-earning player, although Ineos surely won’t give him a pay package that rivals the eye-watering money offered to Ronaldo five years ago.
