Manchester United potential double move for £150m and £43m stars shows club playing catch-up

Manchester United have been linked with a double swoop on Napoli duo Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-Jae.

It is reported by The Athletic, that Financial Fair Play will make summer transfers complicated for Manchester United this summer, irrespective of ownership.

This is why it is important for United to try to spend wisely, prudently, and attempt to sign stars before their transfer value peaks.

Two players the Red Devils are widely reported to be interested in are Napoli duo Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-Jae.

Double move for Victor Osimhen and Kim Min-Jae

Victor Osimhen has struck 25 goals in 29 games this season and Italian newspaper Il Mattino has reported Napoli could demand as much as £150 million.

Centre-back Kim Min-Jae has a £43 million release clause which Napoli are attempting to renegotiate and increase ahead of the summer window, Goal report.

Even with the release clause, the pair could cost the best part of £200 million. If the release clause is removed, Kim’s market value will soar.

Napoli will feel they are entitled to demand such riches. Osimhen and Min-Jae are part of a side who appear set to win their first Serie A title in 30 years.

They are also into the Champions League quarter-finals, where they are favoured to beat AC Milan and are strongly tipped to reach the final.

If that happens, let alone win the whole competition, then Osimhen and Min-Jae’s prices will peak. It may actually become impossible for Manchester United to sign one of them, let alone both.

United need to find the next top stars

Manchester United is a difficult club to recruit for. Clubs immediately demand sky-high prices when the Red Devils come calling.

Going for young players does not always work, because they are not ready for the intense demands and pressure of playing for a club like United.

That’s why proven winners like Casemiro can work so well. But there has to be a middle ground.

United must attempt to sign a top striker in the ascendancy, who is not costing a nine-figure fee.

Instead of always playing catch-up, it would be great if Manchester United could strike deals for stars at the right time.
