Manchester United vs Brighton & Hove Albion full player ratings

Manchester United booked their ticket to the FA Cup final after a 14-penalty shootout against Brighton & Hove Albion secured Erik Ten Hag’s place in the showpiece event against Manchester City.

Here are the full player ratings from the Red Devil’s dramatic win against the Seagulls at Wembley Stadium.

David De Gea – 7

Redeemed himself after his nightmare display in Sevilla with a fantastic performance against Brighton and kept his composure in the shootout that saw Solly March send his penalty high over the bar.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7

The Manchester United right-back was a terror down the right for Brighton as the £50m defender was in his element in a brilliant attacking display from the former Crystal Palace star.

Victor Lindelof – 8

Was more comfortable in defence alongside Shaw as the Swedish international impressed against Brighton. Lindelof has been due a big performance since coming back into the XI, and the centre-back delivered today, scoring the winning penalty to send Manchester United through.

Luke Shaw – 7

Filling in for Harry Maguire at centre-back, the England international again looked the park in central defence as Shaw kept the likes of Danny Welbeck and Karou Mitoma from causing too much damage.

Diogo Dalot – 7

Once again in his unfavoured left-back position, Dalot struggled at times against Brighton’s electric wingers. Yet the Portuguese defender grew into the game as it progressed, with the fullback also scoring a fantastic penalty in the shootout.

Casemiro – 7

Marshalled the midfield expertly and provided a constant source of calm and quality against a pragmatic Brighton team. Lived life on the edge after picking up an early booking but managed to survive the full 120 minutes.

Christian Eriksen – 6

Arguably a mistake on Erik Ten Hag’s part to start Eriksen against a team as intense as Brighton as the Danish international struggled against Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, with the no. 14 coming off past the hour mark.

Antony – 5

Found himself in numerous positions to cause Brighton some real damage, yet the Brazilian lacked the kill pass and lethal finish today to find the back of the net in what was an overall disappointing display from Antony.

Bruno Fernandes – 7

Dictated Manchester United’s attacking quartet yet struggled to break down Brighton’s sturdy defence. Looked exhausted after regular time and was taken off on 100 minutes.

Marcus Rashford – 6

Made his return to the starting XI having missed out on the last three games and showed signs of rustiness. Rashford will be key for the Manchester United run-in, though the England international made up for it with a strong penalty in the shootout.

Anthony Martial – 5

Despite the support, Martial endured a quiet game against Brighton which saw the French striker do little against Lewis Dunk and company, with the forward being hooked off five minutes before full-time.

Subs

Fred – 7

Came on to help balance Manchester United’s field in a move that arguably swung the match in the Red Devils’ favour.

Jadon Sancho – 6

Replaced a struggling Anthony Martial as the England international impressed in the limited minutes Sancho was offered by Erik Ten Hag.

Marcel Sabizter – 6

Added extra control in the midfield but was unable to bring his qualities into the attack in extra-time, though the Austrian sent the shootout to sudden death.

Tyrell Malacia – 6

Replaced Wan-Bissaka and did little to impact the game at 0-0.

Wout Weghorst – 5

Another late replacement as Weghorst failed to leave his mark on the match.
