David Ornstein says £70m man who 'fell in love' with Old Trafford is leaning towards Manchester United over rivals

David Ornstein says that Mason Mount is leaning towards a move to Old Trafford despite interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Mail Online reported that Chelsea will be looking to get £70m for the England international.

This looks increasingly likely with Mount not putting pen to paper with a new contract. But, where will be his desired destination?

Well, it appears Old Trafford could very well be that, and not only this – he also has a love for the great stadium. More on this below.

David Ornstein: Manchester United Mason Mount’s preferred destination

Speaking on Sky Sports today, Ornstein has said that as it stands, Manchester United will be Mount’s desired destination, despite interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

“My understanding is that Mason Mount is leaning towards Manchester United if Chelsea agree to sell him and talks are set to take place in due course,” Ornstein said.

“It seems increasingly likely he’ll be leaving. Liverpool were the early front runners but of course, they aren’t going to be in the Champions League. Manchester United have always been there, Arsenal, too, would like to bring him to their club.

“But it’s Manchester United who have stepped forward as far as I know. Nothing is done, but I think that’s the direction of travel. Those other clubs have been made aware that United is Mount’s preference. It just remains to be seen if they can strike a deal club to club.”

This may stem from the fact that Mount actually has a history with United’s stadium.

According to the Express – Mount ‘fell in love’ with Old Trafford when he was there watching Manchester United vs Portsmouth. This is when Cristiano Ronaldo scored that infamous free-kick which completely sent David James.

Mount would definitely improve our midfield, but his price will definitely be a factor. It’ll be interesting to see what materialises.
