Manchester United can chalk Ivan Toney off the list of transfer possibilities this summer.
The Mirror reported last year that Ivan Toney was being monitored by Manchester United with a view to a future move.
But after he was charged by the FA in regard to betting offences, the prospects of a move soured, despite his prolific form this season.
Now the FA have confirmed Ivan Toney’s punishment. He will serve an eight-month ban, running until January 16, 2024.
He is not even permitted to train with Brentford until September, per rules of the punishment.

Ivan Toney would have been a fair-priced option
There was an argument to be made that Ivan Toney would have been a good option as a cut-price Harry Kane.
He has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season, including more Premier League goals than Marcus Rashford.
Toney has previously caused United problems too, and scored a winning goal over Manchester City this season too.
Manchester United striker search is top priority
Finding a centre-forward (or two) is Manchester United’s top priority this summer.
But as per usual, United are facing paying a high cost. Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Goncalo Ramos, and Kolo Muani are all options which have been named, who could cost in the region of £100 million.
The challenge is to find a player who might be more affordable, without compromising on quality. Lois Openda and Rasmus Hojlund fit the bill. Ivan Toney would have slotted into the same category, with the bonus of Premier League experience. But with his ban, he can be taken off the list.
