Manchester United confirmed a place in next season’s Champions League with a 4-1 win over Chelsea.
An impressive Red Devils display saw Erik ten Hag‘s Manchester United secure a top four place with a game to spare.
It is what Manchester United deserve after a spirited season, a huge improvement on a sixth placed finish last season, with a trophy in the bank too, and possibly another.
Perhaps just as sweet, is knocking Liverpool ‘off their perch’ into the Europa League in the process.

Mohamed Salah ‘devastated’
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah took to social media after full-time of Manchester United’s win over Chelsea.
He reflected on a ‘failure’ for Liverpool and a dismal season for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
He wrote on Twitter: “I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed.
“We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.”
They can harp on about the 7-0 all they like. But that won’t help them when they are playing Europa League football next season.
Salah would have been desperately hoping for a Manchester United slip-up. But Erik ten Hag’s side have been too consistent this season.
Seeing Salah’s dejection will only make Manchester United’s night even sweeter.
