Donny van de Beek set to explore options
Donny van de Beek is back in training again after suffering a knee injury against Bournemouth in early January, which required surgery.
While he will be fit for pre-season, it is unclear if he will be in Manchester United’s plans.
Van de Beek signed for Manchester United in 2020 and his spell at the club has been a big disappointment.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not see him as a starter, and Ralf Rangnick sent him on loan to Everton. The appointment of his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag gave him a last chance – which he didn’t grab.
Van de Beek has only six Premier League starts for Manchester United in three seasons at the club.
United are looking to strengthen again this summer, and there is no path to a regular starting role for Van de Beek.
It’s possible he leaves on loan, but United should be open to offers too, if there is a good fee the club could get for him.
Van de Beek is right to explore his options. For the sake of his own career, he needs a completely fresh start.
