Italian press reaction to Rasmus Hojlund performance shows why Manchester United are interested

Manchester United transfer target Rasmus Hojlund was on target for Atalanta last night in a 5-2 victory.

Rasmus Hojlund signed off in style for Atalanta last night with his 10th goal of the season for the Italian side.

Reaction to Rasmus Hojlund performance

Rasmus Hojlund scored Atalanta’s third goal, showing his determination to score in the process. His movement caused problems for the Monza defence all game, and he got into enough space where he was left with a simple finish after a low cross.

It was Hojlund’s fifth attempt at goal, with two saved by the goalkeeper and two missing the target. Hojlund kept at it, and got his reward.

The Bergamo based edition of the Corriere della Sera lauded Hojlund’s performance and attitude, commending him for stepping up after manager Gian Piero Gasperini was sent off in the 65th minute.

Rating his performance a 7/10, the second highest of any player on display, the newspaper talked up how as a lone striker he successfully evaded the man-marking job Monza tried to play on him.

The report read: “Pablo Marì has studied his movements well and won’t let him suffer from loneliness, he still tries with all his strength, stubborn.

“When the Gasp is expelled, he takes over the reins of the team and bags with arrogance. Always better.”

Hojlund’s combination of talent and personality is why Erik ten Hag has an eye on the young Dane as a reported transfer target.

The MEN report Hojlund has already held video calls with Ten Hag, with Manchester United keen to strengthen the striker position.

An early deal for Hojlund would be important as it takes the pressure off early and ensure United would have a striker in for pre-season, with a more experienced striker also likely to be added too.
