Everton have submitted a bid to sign Manchester United youngster, Anthony Elanga but might still face stiff competition for his signature.
Manchester United’s 21-year-old electric Swede has become quite the commodity over the past 24 hours. It emerged on Wednesday night that Everton were primed to make a move for the 12-cap international.
The Merseyside club reignited their attempt to sign Elanga following an unsuccessful attempt in January. It is reported that a move would cost any potential suitors between £15-20million.
Sean Dyche is clearly enamoured by Elanga and tried to sign him on his second day in the job at Goodison Park, on deadline day in January.
Elanga made his United debut as a teenager in 2021 and has scored four goals for the club in 55 appearances since, however failed to find the net all of last season in his 26 games.
Forest to rival Everton for Elanga
Despite Everton reportedly already bidding for Elanga, they could end up facing competition for their top wing target.
It is said by The Athletic that Nottingham Forest are ‘seriously considering’ rivalling Everton for the permanent signing of Elanga.
This could stem from Forest having a reported ‘genuine concern’ over losing their Welsh star Brennan Johnson with Aston Villa said to be circling.
Ultimately for John Murtough and Richard Arnold, the more interest the better, with hopes this could kick-start a bidding war between the two Premier League rivals.
Interest in is very high
With Everton and Forest two sides named to be interested in acquiring Elanga, they will also be wary of any outside interest coming in late to steal a deal.
The Athletic continue that “Elanga is also attracting strong interest from the German Bundesliga and another Premier League club.”
A possible third Premier League side being interested along with clubs from the Bundesliga likely RB Leipzig who have been linked to Elanga before.
United will be undoubtedly delighted with the massive interest in their young ace, as they had previously been reported to be willing to sell for just £10m. They now look set to double that – at least – with more interested parties likely to drive the fee upward.
