Manchester United serious about securing second signing after Mason Mount

Manchester United are serious about securing the signing of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.

A move for Andre Onana is looking more and more likely. Two highly respected sources have backed claims from the Italian press that Manchester United are keen to sign the Dutchman.

The Telegraph report United are set to ‘step up’ attempts to sign Onana after landing Mason Mount.

The Athletic also report United have made an offer for Onana which at £38 million was turned down, with Inter Milan holding out for more.

Andre Onana to Manchester United

You could argue that United aren’t being serious enough about Onana, refusing so far to pay the asking price.

However, this is the way United do business. Look at the opening bid of £40 million for Mason Mount, which gradually increased.

While this reached £55 million plus £5 million in add-ons, it was still vastly below Chelsea’s asking price which was towards £80 million.

Manchester United are ‘playing the game’ and plan to get the deal done, just doing it their way.

Calciomercato report Andre Onana has rejected a move to Al Nassr as he is waiting on his move to Manchester United.

Like Mason Mount, he is keen to work with Erik ten Hag, having previously done so at Ajax. This combined with the lure of playing for the famous Red Devils is an alluring attraction.

Speaking on Manchester United’s offer for Onana, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio told Football Italia: ““If opportunities arise, we will evaluate them, but as of today they either have not arrived or do not reflect our expectations.

“That is all for Onana, the pre-season training retreat starts on July 13 and he will turn up for that. If over the next 15-20 days there are movements, then we will evaluate them.”
