Mason Mount will be Manchester United’s first signing
Mason Mount will be the first signing of Manchester United’s summer. The club are also looking to complete deals for a goalkeeper and a striker.
The Athletic reported last Thursday that Manchester United had agreed a fee with Chelsea, after previous offers were rejected.
Chelsea had been keen to keep Mount, however, with his contract set to expire in June 2024, they decided to cash in.
Last year Mount had claimed he was ‘extremely happy’ at Chelsea. A turbulent year at Stamford Bridge has prompted him to move on.
Manchester United’s goal in midfield is to sign younger, longer term options, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen both above 30.
Mount, 24, is a step in the right direction and his move should be completed before pre-season training begins.
