£27m World Cup winner move could now see Manchester United miss out on top target

Manchester United are now at risk of missing out on Sofyan Amrabat to Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid have emerged as the new favourites to sign Sofyan Amrabat, report Football Italia.

Viola News had reported at the start of the week that Manchester United were set to finally make an offer over the next 48 hours.

However, having waited weeks for United to step up interest in the Moroccan, we need to see it to believe it at this point.

Rodrigo de Paul bid

There has been a fresh development with Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli attempting to buy World Cup winning midfielder Rodrigo De Paul from Atletico Madrid.

Football Italia report a £27 million offer has been lodged for the Argentina ace, which Atletico are considering. Fabrizio Romano reports De Paul has received a contract offer.

Atletico are also claimed to be prepared to move for Sofyan Amrabat as a replacement.

Foot Mercato reported back in January that Amrabat’s heart was set on Atletico Madrid, although more recent reports have strongly linked him to Manchester United.

United’s own fault if they miss out

Fabrizio Romano reported that Amrabat has given a ‘yes’ to Manchester United over a move, however, the Red Devils are yet to submit a bid for his services.

You can ask from this, how much do United really want Amrabat? How prepared are the club to fight for his services?

The sale of Fred to Fenerbahce was expected to speed up the deal, but it hasn’t.

If he ends up taking the move to La Liga with Atletico Madrid, we can’t blame him at this point. The fault will lie firmly with United, he’s been patient enough.
