5 starts, 1 assist, 1 trophy: £4m departure is thriving since Man Utd exit

Alex Telles has made a remarkable start to life at Al-Nassr, with the full-back seemingly reviving his career at the Saudi club.

It never really worked out for Alex Telles at Manchester United. The Brazilian fullback was brought in by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer back in 2020 in order to compete with Luke Shaw, but never really made his mark.

He had one memorable United moment in the Champions League with a sublime volley, but other than that his United career was nothing short of underwhelming.

He wasn’t very competent at the back and didn’t bring much going forward – deeming his signing ultimately a failure, meaning he was subsequently sold this window to Al-Nassr.

Alex Telles wins silverware immediately at Al-Nassr

United agreed a deal with the Saudi League club for the 30-year-old that was believed to be in the region of around £4m pounds.

This meant he was reunited with Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, and the pair have already got off to a flying start.

The duo helped lead Al Nassr to win the Arab Cup trophy last night, in what was a crazy fixture. Two red cards couldn’t stop Al Nassr from winning, with Cristiano Ronaldo (of course) netting the winner in extra time.

This now means that Alex Telles has won two trophies in as little as a season with two other clubs other than United – with the Brazilian also securing the Europa League title with Sevilla whilst on loan.

A great start for Telles

According to Sofa Score, in as little as five starts, Telles has an assist to his name, has won one trophy and also has been involved in the Team of the Week. An excellent start to his new footballing venture.

To put this into context, Telles only obtained six assists during the entirety of his time at Old Trafford.

What’s important to Telles ultimately at this stage in his career is game time. He just wasn’t getting it at United, so to have started five out of six fixtures since his arrival must be great for him.
