Report: United 'braced' for return in interest for 26-year-old star, he's out of favour with Ten Hag

Manchester United’s haven’t quite seen the outgoings they wanted to this summer, however Scott McTominay could be moving yet.

Before the summer fans all anticipated the departure of several big money players; and while some decent sales have transpired, nowhere near enough has been done.

Besides Fred, Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga, no real big sales have happened.

This has left United in the last week of the window, and unable to strengthen.

Harry Maguire and Donny van de Beek both had moves break-down to West Ham and Real Sociedad respectively.

While besides a low Hammers bid, there has been little interest in Scott McTominay, however this could be about to change.

United expect further McTominay interest

One player who seemed set to depart Old Trafford before the summer was the Scottish international.

He was said to have clubs like Newcastle chasing him, however due to the asking price placed on his head, no deal materialised in the end.

Now however Evening Standard have reported that Manchester United are ‘braced’ for further interest in the Scot.

The interest for the 26-year-old would come in the form of West Ham United who still have their eyes firmly fixed on recruiting another midfielder.

Should United sell at this stage?

With Mason Mount’s recent injury the thin nature of United’s midfield is on full show.

However despite the lack of numbers in the position, it still doesn’t feel like McTominay will get a look in, possibly as Erik ten Hag proves a point.

Ten Hag made five substitutions last Saturday yet the Scottish midfielder remained on the bench.

However, if push comes to shove this season, he could be needed which is why ten Hag shouldn’t even consider selling McTominay, until we have an alternative on the way.

With Sofyan Amrabat not part of Fiorentina’s Europa League squad however, that move could be quickening, in which case, a sale is probably the best option for McTominay.
