'Come on': Manchester United signing explains phone call he made right after Champions League draw

Rasmus Hojlund has had a tough start at Manchester United due to injuries but the forward finally made his debut against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The striker, formerly of Atalanta and Sturm Graz, found out who he and United will be facing in the UEFA Champions League group stage last week.

United have been drawn against Bayern Munich, Galatasaray, and, interestingly, FC Copenhagen, which may well be a big moment for Hojlund specifically.

Hojlund’s twin brothers, Emil and Oscar, play for Copenhagen. So, it is a possibility that the forward will play against his brothers, which would be an extraordinary moment for the youngster.

Hojlund’s reaction to the draw

The Danish forward, who is currently on international duty, has spoken about his and his family’s reaction to the draw, which was made last Thursday.

Speaking to Danish outlet Bold.DK, Hojlund said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting each other in the Champions League.

“Of course, it’s great to meet your former club. It’s my club at home, but it’s not many times you get to meet your brothers in your career.”

Hojlund’s competitive streak

The Danish forward clearly has an edge to his game, this could be seen with his rather physical tussle with Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes.

The 20-year-old has spoken about his family’s competitive edge and who they will support once the group stage begins.

“I called my brothers after the draw,” Hojlund admitted. “Our parents were a bit divided because they don’t quite know who to stick with, but my brothers and I were like: ‘Come on!’ We are competitive people, and that is also why we are where we are today.”

United will take on FC Copenhagen on matchday 3 and matchday 4 and depending on how the Red Devils do against Bayern and Galatasaray, these games against the Danish side may well be crucial in determining if Erik ten Hag’s side will get out of the group or not.
