'If I score...': Mason Mount explains what happened at key moment in Palace loss

Manchester United are back to losing ways with Palace leaving Old Trafford with all three points, Mason Mount has explained a key moment.

It’s back to square one for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United as all positive signs evaporated into thin air on Palace’s second visit to Old Trafford in five days.

On Tuesday United were decisive, fast and dangerous in attack, whether here today, the opposite as United were slow and lethargic barely troubling Roy Hodgson’s defence.

However, as often is the case, the game was decided by inches, with the deflection being decisive in the goal going in, and as Mason Mount found out at the other end, fine margins are tough.

Mount gives verdict on key moment for United

In the second-half, Mason Mount came agonisingly close to drawing United level. However, he watched the ball go agonisingly just over the bar from close in.

Mount gave his view saying to MUTV: “Diogo [Dalot] put a good ball in, I tried to glance it but it’s hit my shoulder.

“It’s of those ones where it’s tough but we had a few chances and if i score that we’re back in the game and hunting to get that winner. It’s fine margins, it’s just not going our way at the moment.”

He is right, and all to often this season United have seen results go against them with fine margins being the cause.

What can United do to turn this around?

In order to see this poor run change, United need to stop allowing fine margins to be the cause of points being dropped. While yes it was a close game, United shouldn’t have let it be.

Creating so little and ruing the one or two really good misses is ridiculous for a club like United.

We should be having enough opportunity to score three or four every week not scraping together a chance here and there.

This needs to be changed and Erik ten Hag will be desperate to do so as he can’t lose many more games without fans losing faith.
