Manchester United fans are all saying the same thing as Scott McTominay scores and assists for Scotland

Scott McTominay is back on international duty and back among the goals for Scotland as they beat Cyprus 3-0.

Over the last year, Scott McTominay has been on fire for Scotland which leaves Manchester United fans longing for this sort of form at Old Trafford.

McTominay scored and assisted for Scotland tonight which made him the joint top scorer in Euros qualification, next to Rasmus Hojlund and Romeu Lukaku with six.

Due to his immense performances in a Scotland shirt, many United fans have began wondering if he has been miss-profiled by Erik ten Hag.

After all, Scott was a striker at youth level…

McTominay scores and assists for Scotland

Manchester United seemed insistent on shipping McTominay out in the summer, with interest from Fulham and West Ham surfacing along with Bayern Munich.

However, the Scot’s performances for his nation has got fans thinking, could he be playing in the wrong position, and why can’t he perform like this for United?

Therefore many fans took to social media to question McTominay’s use at United. One wrote: “I’m confused on why we’re so adamant on playing Scott McTominay as a 6 when he so often shines higher up for Scotland.. Try him somewhere else Ten Hag, please.”

Along similar line of questioning, a fan account posted: “Still find it funny that we used Mctominay and Fred as 6’s for the entirety of their United careers when they’re both advanced 8’s.”

Another questioned how much the Scottish international would be worth: “If Rice is worth £105m then McTominay is worth at least £60m btw.”

A supporter wrote this message accompanied by a picture of Zinedine Zidane: “Scott Mctominay when it’s time to put on a Scotland shirt”.

Should he get a chance for United?

With his form for Scotland so consistent, it does make sense to assume that Erik ten Hag should be taking notes.

Utilising McTominay as an advanced eight or even further forward could be a really good option for United.

His goal scoring prowess continues to grow, and there is no reason the can’t be the second choice striker for United behind Hojlund.

We would love to see it, would you?
