Manchester United outcast now enters talks over switch to La Liga after Serie A deadline passes

Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood is now attempting to secure a late switch to La Liga.

After an internal investigation into Mason Greenwood led to a botched plan to bring him back, Manchester United announced earlier this month he would not play for the club again.

Greenwood remains under contract until 2025 and Manchester United are attempting to find him a new club.

All options are on the table, including a sale, loan, or even letting him leave for free.

Getafe talks for Greenwood

The latest side to show interest in Mason Greenwood is Spanish side Getafe, who are 11th in La Liga after three games.

The Athletic report: “Several clubs in the Premier League, Italy, Germany and Spain have been contacted about a move.”

Of these clubs, Getafe are engaged in active talks with Manchester United over a loan move.

The La Liga transfer deadline is 11pm, the same time as the Premier League.

Lazio move breaks down

Serie A side Lazio had been trying to do a deal for Greenwood, before Gianluca di Marzio reported time had expired.

The Italian deadline passed at 7pm and there was just not enough time to close a deal.

A move to Lazio would have been a good landing spot as they are in the Champions League. But many would agree Greenwood is fortunate to get any move at all.

Let’s see if he gets his move to Getafe, or if he will be forced to look elsewhere.
